Castrol Braycote Micronic 601 EF is an NLGI # 2 smooth oily translucent, off-white grease. Its base oil (Castrol Brayco® 815Z) is a perfluorinated polyester with exceptional chemical resistance, extremely low volatility and a wide range of temperature conditions. The grease is non-toxic, non-combustible and does not use chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) in the manufacture of the product. This product has an unusually high load-bearing capacity, measured by the Four-Ball EP test, and contains a rust and corrosion inhibitor to further protect components. Castrol Fluoroclean ™ X100 or Castrol Fluoroclean ™ HE can be used to remove this grease. Refer to the data sheets for information on these products.
Application area
The Braycote Micronic 601 EF is designed to operate in the presence of rocket fuel, oxidizing agents and high vacuum. It is often used in space applications, including space shuttle and satellites. This should also be considered in any application where hostile chemical or extreme environmental conditions impede the use of conventional grease. Typical applications include ball and roller bearings, gears, and also as lubricants for assemblies for seals and elastomers. Perfluorinated lubricants such as this product exhibit an excellent shelf life due to their internal inertness.
